The embattled former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, will today appear before the Appeal Court, Ibadan, in a bid to regain his freedom, which was cut short by Justice Mashud Abass of the Oyo State High Court.
Omisore, who became a senator while in prison custody for alleged conspiracy to murder former Attorney-General, the late Bola Ige, was granted bail by Justice John Ige of Oyo State High Court on medical ground. Justice Ige later granted the transfer of Omisore's trial to the state Chief Judge, Justice Isaiah Olakanmi, for re-assignment to another court as requested by the prosecution leader, Chief Debo Akande.
The matter was then re-assigned to Justice Mashud Abass of Court 20, Oyo State High Court, who immediately cut Omisore's bail and ordered him remanded at Agodi Prison. But Abass, in a controversial circumstance, withdrew from the trial, alleging threat to his life from unexpected quarters.
