The Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Information, Mr. Kola Ajumobi, who made this known when he briefed reporters on the resolutions of the State Executive Council meeting in Ado-Ekiti, said the project would soon be commissioned.

Ajumobi said the Special Adviser to the Governor on Electricity and Communication, Mr. Kehinde Odebunmi, informed the State Executive Council that the project has been completed and was awaiting the consent of the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) Benin Zone authorities before it could be test-run and commissioned for use.

He explained that the extension project would serve the Irepodun/Ifelodun and Ekiti West local government areas when commissioned.

Ajumobi, who described the project as a temporary measure to boost power supply to Ekiti State, hinted that the Presidency has directed the Federal Ministry of Finance, to release money to the contractor handling the 132 KVA substation project, which he said, was the ultimate and lasting solution to the electricity problem in the state.

He said the council has mandated the Commissioner of Works, Chief Dele Okeya, to ensure that the SCC Nig. Limited, the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Aramoko-Ikogosi-Erinjinyan road, returns to site soon.

He explained that the immediate past administration in the state awarded the road contract in January 2003 and has paid about N200 million out of the N944 million-contract sum.

Ajumobi, who said the contractor has abandoned the project, said Government has resolved to ensure speedy completion of the project.

The special assistant hinted that Governor Ayo Fayose has directed the state Ministry of Works to construct bumps at the dangerous bends along Ado-Iyin road, which was notoriously called "Akonasan" within 7 days to forestall further accident on the road.

He said the government has approved the re-constitution of the State Boundary Commission under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Abiodun Aluko.

He said the boundary commission was expected to work in conjunction with a technical committee to ensure the resolution of inter and intra state boundary disputes, among others.
