The police prosecutor, Mr. Esiet Esiet, told the court that on July 2, at about 2am at Ajangbadi Area of Lagos, the accused murdered his 19-year-old wife, Esther.

The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that the prosecutor told the court that Esther had just given birth to a baby boy in a private hospital without any complication and had been discharged.

He added that Saka and his household slept together that fateful day without any problem, stressing that Esther was found dead the following morning.

The prosecutor, however, said that the two-month-old baby was hale and hearty. He urged the court to remand the accused in prison.

Magistrate, Mr. W. A. Meigbope, who did not take the plea of the accused, ordered him to be remanded pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions and adjourned the case till November 17.
