He explained that he could no longer be part of a group which is not in support of ailing President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's continued stay in power.

In a statement made available to The Guardian, he maintained that ACF's decision on Yar'Adua runs contrary to the quest by northerners to protect the interest of the North at all costs.

According to him: "I read with some degree of consternation the reaction of the ACF secretariat, regarding my request for them to convene a joint emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees and Central working Committee to discuss the press statement credited to the ACF National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani, to the effect that the ACF has declared that President Umaru Musa Yaradua is unfit to govern and should hand over power to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan."
