In spite of signing a new contract extension with the Egyptian Football Association, the Nigerian Football Federation is not giving up on the possibility of luring Hassan Shehata to coach the Super Eagles to the World Cup.

Sunday SoccerStar gathered that the NFF chairman, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi directed the technical committee to include the successful coach on its wish list with the intension of offering him a short contract.

The NFF is also ready to write the Egyptian FA as requested by Shehata to free him on a short contract for the duration of the World Cup. The reasoning is that being an African, it will be easier for him to groom a World Cup team within a short period since he understands the mentality of African players better.

He is also considered to be more amenable to the Nigerian environment than most of those being considered for the plum job.
