He told newsmen shortly after he voted at Umudim hall, that at Emmanuel Church ward at Akanmili, in Nnewi North Local Government Area, only the name of one person out of the 1,383 registered voters could be found in the register.

He said, "All the other names were fictitious. When we got there, the voters were unhappy. They had been there since morning but they could not vote. There were other problems such as having a number of registered voters but not enough materials."

Ojukwu said he was overwhelmed by the number of policemen and other security operatives present in the city. "I don't know what we are heading for but there are too many policemen and security people," he said.

Ojukwu said that apart from the discrepancies, there was general calmness and that INEC had a good intention to make a good job of the election.

He said, "They were not perfect but I congratulate them. It is clear to me that they did a good deal of work and as an Anambrarian and a Nigerian, I can say we are on our way to the type of election we look forward to."

Ojukwu's wife, Bianca, who monitored the election with him, confirmed that the people of the community came together and requested that the election at Akanmili be cancelled.

She noted that at Umudimkwa ward, the Independent National Electoral Commission provided 26 ballot papers for the about 86 registered voters.

Meanwhile, at ward one, unit 18 in Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area, a former Commissioner of Environment in Peter Obi's cabinet, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna, was molested by thugs allegedly belonging to the Hope Democratic Party.

He was accused of trying to rig the election by bringing a car to the ward to convey the election officials and the security operatives to his house.
