NIGERIA'S coach, Uche Eucharia has been warned to steer clear of controversy following a statement on lesbianism credited to her.
Head of FIFA Women's Competition, Tatjana Haeni, yesterday in a release to sportswriters admonished Eucharia to avoid comments on the issue capable of causing disaffection in the competition.
''We want to use the sport in 'overcoming social and cultural obstacles for women with the ultimate aim of improving women's standing in society. We are here at a FIFA event and will point out that it would be best to express oneself neutrally," said Haenni.
Neither Eucharia nor the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has responded to the statement.
Eucharia had said she was aware of lesbianism in sports but that she had since tackled it and had banished homosexuals from Super Falcons upon taking up the Nigerian appointment.
